Sr. Application Engineer

Job Summary
The job is to perform leadership role and answerable for deliverables. Accomplish all elements of Application Engineering and support department members to obtain automation equipment projects. Tasks include carry out and guides department members in gathering pertinent information, conceptualizing, pricing, preparing proposals, sustaining client relations, supporting after-order details, clarifying specifications, providing commercial support and follow up during project, and evaluating new technologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs and leads applications engineering tasks on assigned requests for quotation (RFQs)
  • Gathers information on RFQs, develops conceptual solutions, researches devices and costs for applications
  • Clarifies specifications and provides necessary support during offering phase
  • Responsible for quality of all works done for assigned RFQs — including scope review, concept review and final reviews
  • Create all technical documentation in line with BPPB requirement and project related needs e.g. timing chart, relevant calculations(forces, speed, load etc) and save in project folder
  • Assure completion of costing, concepts, proposals and necessary technical write-up and other deliverables in a timely and high-quality manner
  • Presents concepts and solutions at internal review meetings
  • To participate in project kick-off meeting and ensure all technical, conceptual and costing information are passed on to the project team
  • Provides necessary support during project execution
  • Scheduling of costing and proposal activity and management of resources
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time by the company or the direct superior


  • Performs cost engineering tasks and support department members on such tasks
  • Save all related costing information e.g. quotation, emails from vendor in the project folder
  • Obtain SCM support in terms of cost and supplier contact info
  • Clarify price offering from supplier and separate or breakdown price input according to system, transportation, taxes, training and other price categories

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience (shop experience preferred)
  • Minimum 7years experience in Engineering related, preferably at a custom automation company
  • Minimum 5years experience in quoting complex automation projects and or designing of such hands on experience in application engineering and design of customised automation equipment
  • Has record of project achievements and technology development
  • Leadership and management exposure and familiar with the products of targeted customers
  • Good computer skills; able to create spreadsheets and perform word processing
  • Strong CAD capability, drafting and sketching talent
  • Fluent in English other languages are from advantage
  • Good communication skill with internal staff and customer.
